## How much does Front cost?

**Front costs $25 to $105 per seat a month on annual billing: Starter is $25 ($35 month to month) for up to 10 seats, Professional is $65 ($85 month to month) for up to 50 seats, and Enterprise is $105 and sold only on an annual plan.** Front's AI is billed on top. Copilot is $20 per seat a month on Starter and Professional and included on Enterprise, and the Autopilot AI agent is metered per conversation at $0.05, $0.39 or $0.89 depending on how far it gets. Every figure here is from front.com/pricing, read October 17, 2026. Front is a shared inbox and ticketing tool for customer-facing teams; it is not related to the "front" in front-end development.

## Front pricing plans compared

| | Starter | Professional | Enterprise |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Annual billing, per seat a month | $25 | $65 | $105 |
| Month to month, per seat a month | $35 | $85 | Annual only |
| Seat limit | Up to 10 | Up to 50 | None listed |
| Channels | One channel type | Omnichannel (email, SMS, social, WhatsApp) | Omnichannel |
| Automation rules | Up to 10 | Up to 20, plus macros | Unlimited rules and macros |
| Workspaces | 1 | Up to 5 | Unlimited |
| AI Copilot | $20 per seat add-on | $20 per seat add-on | Included |
| AI Autopilot | Add-on, per conversation | Add-on, per conversation | Add-on, per conversation |
| Smart QA and Smart CSAT | No | No | Included |
| User management | Basic | SSO, SCIM | SSO, SCIM, custom roles |

Two add-ons sit outside the plans: a native WhatsApp channel (Professional and Enterprise) billed at Meta's WhatsApp cost plus a 20% admin fee, and an API rate-limit increase at $200 a month per extra 100 requests a minute, on any plan. Annual billing saves 24% by Front's own label. On Starter that is $10 a seat a month, and on Professional it is $20.

## The 11th seat is the expensive one

Starter stops at 10 seats, and the next plan up costs 2.6 times as much per seat. On annual billing, 10 people on Starter cost $250 a month. Hire one more and the whole team moves to Professional: 11 seats at $65 is $715 a month, so the 11th person adds $465. Month to month the jump is $350 to $935. The same cliff sits at seat 51, where Professional's 50-seat cap pushes the team onto Enterprise: 50 seats at $65 is $3,250 a month and 51 seats at $105 is $5,355.

A team of 8 to 10 on Starter should plan for this before hiring, not after. Professional also unlocks the omnichannel inbox, so if you already want SMS or social messages in the same queue as email, you are paying for that jump anyway.

## What Front's AI costs: Autopilot and Copilot

**Copilot** drafts replies, surfaces account details and suggests next steps for the person answering. It is a flat $20 per seat a month on Starter and Professional and is included in Enterprise's $105.

**Autopilot** is Front's AI agent, and it is metered per conversation at three prices:

- **Triage, $0.05:** reads the message and tags and routes it.
- **Handoff, $0.39:** gathers more context or drafts a reply, then hands the conversation to your team.
- **Resolution, $0.89:** resolves the conversation with no reply from your team.

That pricing rewards the agent for finishing, but it also means the AI bill grows with your volume, not your headcount. A plan quote that only counts seats is missing the part of the invoice that moves.

## A worked monthly bill: a 6-person service team

Take a 6-person team on Professional, billed annually, handling 2,000 conversations a month. Assume Autopilot resolves 600 of them, hands off 800 with context, and only triages the other 600. These are illustrative splits, not Front's numbers; your own mix decides the total.

| Line | Math | Per month |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Professional seats | 6 × $65 | $390 |
| Copilot | 6 × $20 | $120 |
| Autopilot resolutions | 600 × $0.89 | $534 |
| Autopilot handoffs | 800 × $0.39 | $312 |
| Autopilot triage | 600 × $0.05 | $30 |
| **Total** | | **$1,386** |

The seats are $390 of a $1,386 bill. On Enterprise the same six seats cost $630 with Copilot included, which is $120 more than Professional plus Copilot ($510) and buys unlimited rules, Smart QA and Smart CSAT. If you were going to pay for Copilot anyway, that $120 is the real price of Enterprise for a team this size.

## Front vs Intercom: how the AI is metered

Intercom's pricing page, read the same day, prices its Fin AI agent at $0.99 per outcome, and lists a customer confirming the issue is resolved, or not asking for more help, among the conditions that count as one. Front's closest equivalent, an Autopilot resolution, is $0.89. The difference is that Front also charges $0.05 or $0.39 for conversations its agent only triages or hands off. A team whose AI resolves most of what it touches pays less per resolution on Front; a team where the AI mostly hands off should model both. The wider field is in [Zendesk AI vs Intercom vs Gorgias](/blog/zendesk-ai-vs-intercom-vs-gorgias), the cheaper inboxes in [Intercom alternatives](/blog/intercom-alternatives), and the AI agents themselves in [Intercom Fin vs Decagon vs Sierra](/blog/intercom-fin-vs-decagon-vs-sierra).

## Is Front worth it?

For a team that lives in a shared email inbox and wants shared ticketing, a basic knowledge base and a few automation rules, Starter at $25 a seat is a fair price, and the step to Professional is worth it when you need SMS and social in the same queue. It is a harder sell when you only need ticketing: Front's value is the shared inbox, and the per-seat price rises fast at seat 11. Before you add a support tool, check what your CRM already includes; [our AI customer service software comparison](/blog/ai-customer-service-software) lines up the options.

## When a custom AI support agent costs less

A year of the Autopilot usage in the example above is $10,512 ($876 a month), before seats. That is the range where an agent you own starts to compete. SuperDupr, the AI ops shop Justin McKelvey runs, builds [custom AI customer support agents](/solutions/ai-customer-support) for $8,000 to $15,000, with $200 to $2,000 a month in running costs, and most go live in 2 to 4 weeks. It connects to your order, scheduling or CRM data and has no per-conversation meter. Front's own feature list includes connecting external AI agents built with Claude and other models, so an agent you own can still work alongside a team that keeps Front as its inbox. Under a few hundred AI-handled conversations a month, Front's Autopilot is the cheaper test; above that, price both over twelve months.

A 5-person team on Starter pays $125 a month billed annually.

### Does Front have a free plan?

No. Front has no free plan on its pricing page; the cheapest option is Starter at $25 per seat a month billed annually. The page offers a free trial on Starter and demos for Professional and Enterprise.

### How much does Front's AI cost?

Copilot, which drafts replies and suggests next steps, is $20 per seat a month on Starter and Professional and included on Enterprise. On seats it depends on the plan, and on AI it depends on your mix. Front's Autopilot charges $0.89 per resolution, against $0.99 per Fin outcome on Intercom's pricing page (both read October 17, 2026), but Front also charges $0.05 or $0.39 for conversations its agent only triages or hands off. If your AI resolves most of what it touches, Front's meter is cheaper per resolution; if it mostly hands off, model both on your own volume.
