## How much does SurveyMonkey cost? The short answer

**As of November 7, 2026, SurveyMonkey's Basic plan is free, Standard costs $149 a month billed monthly (1,000 responses a month), Advantage costs $39 a month billed annually ($468 a year, 15,000 responses a year), and Premier costs $139 a month billed annually ($1,668 a year, 40,000 responses a year). Team plans start at 3 users: Team Advantage is $30 per user a month and Team Premier $92, both billed annually. Every paid plan charges $0.15 for each response over its limit.** For most small businesses the cheapest paid plan is not Standard. It is Advantage, because a year of it costs about what three months of Standard does.

Prices and limits come from SurveyMonkey's individual and team pricing pages, read November 7, 2026. The worked examples are our arithmetic on those published numbers.

## SurveyMonkey plans side by side

| Plan | Price | Billing | Users | Responses included |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Basic | Free | None | 1 | A limited number viewable per survey (shown after sign-up); 10 questions per survey |
| Standard Monthly | $149 a month | Monthly only | 1 | 1,000 a month |
| Advantage Annual | $39 a month ($468 a year) | Annual | 1 | 15,000 a year |
| Premier Annual | $139 a month ($1,668 a year) | Annual | 1 | 40,000 a year |
| Team Advantage | $30 per user a month | Annual | 3 or more | 50,000 a year |
| Team Premier | $92 per user a month | Annual | 3 or more | 100,000 a year |
| Enterprise | Quote (demo) | Custom | 5 or more | Custom |

On paid plans the response limit is pooled across all your surveys and all your users, and every response past it costs $0.15. SurveyMonkey Audience, its paid panel of respondents, is sold separately and is not in any of these prices.

## Is SurveyMonkey free?

Yes. Basic is free for one user with unlimited surveys, up to 10 questions per survey, some question types, AI survey building, web-link and social sharing, website embeds and the Zapier integration. The catch is responses: Basic lets you view only a limited number per survey, even if more people answer, and SurveyMonkey shows the exact number only after you sign up or log in. Skip logic, custom design, email invitations and data exports start on Standard.

There is a second catch that matters more for a business. If you cancel a paid plan and drop back to Basic, SurveyMonkey's FAQ says any responses over the Basic limit that are older than 365 days are deleted under its data retention policy. Export your results before you let a paid plan lapse.

## Standard vs Advantage: the monthly plan is the expensive one

Standard is the only plan you can pay for month to month, and it is priced for people who need one survey and then want to leave. Run it all year and it costs $1,788. Advantage costs $468 for the year, adds premium themes, more logic, payments, AI analysis and thematic analysis, and includes 15,000 responses a year against Standard's 12,000.

| Need | Standard Monthly | Advantage Annual |
| --- | --- | --- |
| One survey, one month | $149 | $468 (no monthly option) |
| Four months of surveys | $596 | $468 |
| A full year | $1,788 | $468 |

The break-even is the fourth month. If you expect to run surveys in more than three months of the year, Advantage is cheaper, and SurveyMonkey's own FAQ points one-survey buyers to Basic or Standard Monthly for that reason.

## The team plan math: three seats on Team Advantage cost less than three Advantage accounts

SurveyMonkey accounts are for one person each (its terms say they may not be shared, and each user can register up to 2 devices). So when a second and third person need access, the choice is three individual plans or one team plan with a 3-user minimum.

| Three people | Per year | Responses a year |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 3 x Advantage Annual | $1,404 | 15,000 each, not shared |
| Team Advantage, 3 users | $1,080 | 50,000, pooled |
| 3 x Premier Annual | $5,004 | 40,000 each, not shared |
| Team Premier, 3 users | $3,312 | 100,000, pooled |

Team Advantage is $324 a year cheaper than three Advantage accounts and adds shared templates, logos and themes, user roles and permissions. At checkout you also choose between Full Access seats (create, send, analyze) and Analyst seats (view, comment and analyze surveys shared with them). Two people is the awkward size: team plans need 3, so two individual Advantage plans ($936) cost less than a 3-seat team ($1,080).

## The limit that surprises people: $0.15 a response

Paid plans do not stop at the limit. They keep collecting and bill $0.15 for each extra response. A customer survey on Advantage that pulls 20,000 responses in a year instead of 15,000 adds 5,000 x $0.15 = $750, more than the plan itself. Two things push a business over without anyone deciding to: a survey link embedded on a busy page, and a post-purchase or post-appointment survey sent automatically by another tool. If an automation sends the invitations, cap the volume there or pick the plan for the volume it will really send.

## How SurveyMonkey connects to your other tools

The Zapier integration is listed on every plan, including Basic, so a new response can create a CRM contact, post to Slack or add a row to a sheet without a developer. Each of those steps uses Zapier tasks on Zapier's own bill, which is priced separately; the task ladder is in [how much Zapier costs](/blog/how-much-does-zapier-cost). Enterprise adds BI and CRM integrations, single sign-on, a custom subdomain and a choice of US, Canada or EU data center.

If the form is really a lead or quote form rather than a survey, a form builder may fit better. Typeform's Plus plan is $56 a month billed yearly for 1,000 responses a month and 3 users (read October 27, 2026), covered in [Typeform pricing](/blog/typeform-pricing). Jotform's Bronze plan is $34 a month billed yearly (read October 12, 2026), and its limits are in [Jotform pricing](/blog/jotform-pricing).

## Which SurveyMonkey plan should a small business pick?

- **One survey this year:** Basic if the response view limit is enough, otherwise one month of Standard at $149, then export and cancel.
- **Recurring customer feedback, one person:** Advantage at $468 a year.
- **Three or more people:** Team Advantage at $30 per user a month, not separate Advantage accounts.
- **Multilingual surveys, white labeling, crosstabs or block randomization:** Premier ($1,668 a year) or Team Premier ($92 per user a month).
- **SSO, governance or a specific data center:** Enterprise, 5 users minimum, priced by quote.

SurveyMonkey offers discounts for students and educators in the US and UK, and nonprofits and charities may qualify for discounts too.

## Who can connect survey responses to the rest of my business?

The survey is the easy part. The value is in what happens to each answer: a low score that opens a support ticket, a "yes, call me" that lands in the CRM with the right owner, a monthly summary that writes itself. SuperDupr, the AI ops shop Justin McKelvey runs, builds those workflows on the tools you already pay for, or as a custom build you own. An [AI workflow automation](/solutions/ai-workflow-automation) project is published at $10,000 to $25,000, and most systems go live in 2 to 4 weeks. Bring your survey volume and the tools the answers need to reach to a free strategy session, and we'll tell you whether a $30-a-seat plan and a Zapier step will do or whether it is worth building.

### How much does SurveyMonkey cost?

As of November 7, 2026, Basic is free, Standard costs $149 a month billed monthly, Advantage costs $39 a month billed annually ($468 a year) and Premier costs $139 a month billed annually ($1,668 a year). Team Advantage is $30 and Team Premier $92 per user a month, billed annually, with a 3-user minimum. Enterprise is priced by quote.

### Is SurveyMonkey free?

Yes. Basic is free for one user with unlimited surveys of up to 10 questions, but it shows only a limited number of responses per survey, and the exact number appears after you sign up. Skip logic, custom design, email invitations and data exports need a paid plan.

### What happens if I go over my SurveyMonkey response limit?

On paid plans SurveyMonkey keeps collecting and charges $0.15 for each response over the limit. Limits are pooled across all surveys and users on the account. On Advantage, 5,000 extra responses in a year would add $750.

### Is SurveyMonkey Standard or Advantage cheaper?

Advantage, if you survey in more than three months of the year. Standard is $149 a month with no annual option; Advantage is $468 for a full year and includes 15,000 responses against Standard's 12,000 over twelve months. Standard only wins for a single month of surveying.

### Can two people share a SurveyMonkey account?

No. SurveyMonkey's terms say accounts are for individual use, with up to 2 devices per user. Team plans need at least 3 users, so two people pay less on two Advantage plans ($936 a year) than on a 3-seat Team Advantage plan ($1,080).
