Zendesk Pricing 2026: Support Team vs Suite Team vs Professional, the AI Resolution Allowance, and API Limits
Zendesk costs $19 per agent a month on Support Team, $55 on Suite Team and $115 on Suite Professional billed annually, as of October 21, 2026, with Enterprise through sales and no free plan. AI agents are billed per automated resolution, and the included allowance is small: 5 per agent a month on Team plans. Here is the per-seat math at 5, 10 and 25 agents, what the AI really costs, and the API limits that break automations.
How much does Zendesk cost? The short answer
As of October 21, 2026, Zendesk costs $19 per agent a month on Support Team, $55 on Suite Team and $115 on Suite Professional, billed annually. Suite Enterprise is sold through sales with no published price. There is no free plan: new accounts get a 14-day trial of Suite Professional. AI agents come with every plan but are metered by "automated resolutions", and the included allowance is small: on the older allocation it is 5 resolutions per agent a month on Team plans, so a 5-agent team gets 25.
We read zendesk.com/pricing, Zendesk's help center articles on automated resolutions and Zendesk's API rate-limit documentation on October 21, 2026. Zendesk says annual billing is 20% off; the monthly figures sit behind a toggle that did not render in our read, so every price on this page is the annual rate. The bills below are our arithmetic on those published numbers.
Zendesk plans compared
| Support Team | Suite Team | Suite Professional | Suite Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Per agent a month, billed annually | $19 | $55 | $115 | Talk to sales |
| Channels | Email and ticketing | Adds messaging, live chat and telephony | Adds IVR phone tree | Adds generative AI for voice |
| AI on the plan card | None listed | AI agents, AI knowledge base, Action Builder | Adds Admin Copilot, App Builder, writing tools | Adds intelligent triage and auto assist |
| Routing | Ticket routing, triggers and automations | Omnichannel routing | Skills-based routing | Custom agent roles, approval workflows, sandbox |
| API requests a minute (Support and Help Center APIs) | 200 | 200 | 400 | 700 |
Three add-ons are priced on the page, all per agent a month on annual billing: Copilot at $50, the Workforce Engagement bundle at $50 and Contact Center at $83. Zendesk also says some features (App Builder, Action Builder and Voice) are billed on consumption once you pass the plan's allowance, without printing those rates on the pricing page.

Per-seat math at 5, 10 and 25 agents
| Agents | Support Team | Suite Team | Suite Professional | Suite Professional + Copilot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | $95 a month ($1,140 a year) | $275 ($3,300) | $575 ($6,900) | $825 ($9,900) |
| 10 | $190 ($2,280) | $550 ($6,600) | $1,150 ($13,800) | $1,650 ($19,800) |
| 25 | $475 ($5,700) | $1,375 ($16,500) | $2,875 ($34,500) | $4,125 ($49,500) |
The jump that catches most teams is Suite Team to Suite Professional: $60 more per agent, so $600 a month at 10 agents, for skills-based routing, the IVR phone tree, Admin Copilot and double the API limit. Copilot then adds 43% to a Professional seat ($50 on $115). If what you need is the agent-facing AI, price Copilot first; if it is the phone tree, price Professional.
What the AI really costs: the resolution allowance
Zendesk bills its AI agents per automated resolution, meaning a customer request the AI closed without a human stepping in. Zendesk's FAQ says AI agents are included in every Suite and Support plan, and its help center explains what "included" means. On the allocation that applied before May 18, 2026 (accounts stay on it until they move), each plan includes:
- Team: 5 automated resolutions per agent a month
- Professional and Growth: 10 per agent a month
- Enterprise: 15 per agent a month
- Every plan: no more than 10,000 a year, and the allocation expires annually
Accounts moved to the newer "resolution tiers" (introduced May 18, 2026) get a resolution allowance instead, and only the Verified tier draws on it. A conversation the AI helped with before a human finished it ("Assisted escalation") and one the AI closed without the customer coming back but that an LLM check could not confirm ("Contained") do not count against the allowance.
What Zendesk does not publish, on the pricing page or in either help article we read, is the price of a resolution beyond the allowance. Its help center says you can buy 100 or more in advance at a better rate than pay-as-you-go overage, or pause the AI agent when the allowance runs out. So the allowance is the only AI number you can budget from the website.
Here is how small it is in practice. Take a 5-agent team on Suite Team receiving 1,500 tickets a month, with the AI agent resolving 30% of them on its own: 450 resolutions. The older allocation includes 25. The other 425 (94%) are billed at a rate you get from Zendesk sales, every month. At 10 agents on Professional the allowance is 100 a month, still under a quarter of the same 450.
The limits that break automations
- The general API limit is per account and plan. Team plans get 200 requests a minute to the Support and Help Center APIs, Growth and Professional 400, Enterprise 700 and Enterprise Plus 2,500. Every integration, app and script shares that number.
- Ticket updates have their own ceiling that upgrading does not lift. Updating tickets is capped at 100 requests a minute per account (300 with the High Volume API add-on), and 30 updates per ticket per user every 10 minutes. A script re-tagging 20,000 old tickets takes at least 200 minutes on any plan, Team or Enterprise.
- Exports are slow by design. Incremental exports, the endpoints a data sync uses to pull changed tickets, are limited to 10 requests a minute (30 with High Volume).
- High Volume needs 10 seats. The add-on that lifts the general limit to 2,500 a minute is sold on Suite Growth and above or Support Professional and above, with a 10-agent-seat minimum.
- Chat API stays at 200 a minute on every plan. A messaging integration does not speed up on a bigger plan.
The practical rule: if your automation updates tickets in bulk (an AI tagger, a CRM sync, a status writer), the 100-a-minute ticket update limit is your real ceiling, not the plan's headline number. Batch the writes or spread them across the day.
Zendesk vs Freshdesk and the per-minute alternative
On seats, Zendesk and Freshdesk now start in the same place: $19 for an email-only plan and $55 for the first plan with chat and AI agents. As our Freshdesk pricing breakdown shows (freshworks.com read October 19, 2026), Freshdesk's top published tier is $89 against Zendesk Professional's $115. The difference is the AI meter. Freshdesk gives 500 AI sessions once per account and then charges a published $49 per 100. Zendesk renews a per-agent allowance and does not publish the rate beyond it. The wider field is in our Zendesk AI vs Intercom vs Gorgias comparison and the AI customer service software guide.
If most of your support happens on the phone, seats may be the wrong unit altogether. At $55 a seat, a 5-agent Suite Team costs $275 a month before any voice usage. Amazon Connect charges no seats, about $0.04 a minute all-in on a US number, so the same $275 buys roughly 6,800 minutes of calls; our Amazon Connect pricing page works out that crossover.
Is Zendesk free?
No. Zendesk has no free plan. The trial is 14 days of Suite Professional with Copilot included. Early-stage startups can apply to Zendesk's startup program, which the pricing page describes as a 6-month Suite trial for up to 50 agents (the site menu advertises up to 2 years free for qualified startups).
Is Zendesk worth it?
Support Team at $19 is a fair price for a small team that only answers email and wants proper ticketing, routing and macros. Suite Team at $55 is where Zendesk becomes the multichannel platform people mean when they say Zendesk. Budget the AI separately: the included resolutions cover a pilot, not a deployment, and the overage rate comes from a sales conversation. Ask for it in writing before you turn the AI agent on for all channels.
Who can build AI support on top of Zendesk for you?
You can wire Zendesk's own AI agent and Action Builder yourself if someone on the team will own the flows. The other route is a custom AI support agent that reads your order, booking or job data, answers on email, chat and phone, and writes every result back into Zendesk tickets, so the help desk stays the system of record and resolutions are not metered per conversation. SuperDupr, Justin McKelvey's company, builds custom AI customer support agents, published at $8,000 to $15,000 with $200 to $2,000 a month in running costs, and most go live in 2 to 4 weeks. We do not resell Zendesk. At a few hundred AI resolutions a month, get Zendesk's per-resolution quote first and compare both over twelve months.
